Business Owner and Dance Instructor

Joy began dancing at 7 in Durban under Barabara Lewis: a South African ballet examiner.

She completed her major exams with the late Eileen Keegan and Yvonne Barker when Barbara relocated to Cape Town.

After a number of years performing in the “Love of Dance” program and “Durban Dance Foundation”, she was offered a position with the Department of Education and Culture . Here she taught Cecchetti Ballet and Jazz to all ages, while running her own dance school.

She was sponsored to Australia in 2001 to teach Cecchetti Ballet at St Stephens College.
In 2005 the urge to run her own dance school saw her begin the extra Curricular Dance Program at Assisi Catholic College where she continues to teach.

She also runs a dance studio in Helensvale.

Gold Cost born and bred, Rachelle has been dancing since she was 5 years old starting with jazz and tap, since then she has trained in Australia and America in ballet, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop and cheer leading.

In 2013 she completed a year of full-time dance training through Ikin dance and obtained Certificate IV’s in dance and fitness. Rachelle has a passion for health and fitness and as well as being a person trainer is a qualified nutritionist with a Bachelor of Health Science in Nutritional Medicine.

She is also currently studying a bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Rachelle has been teaching dance to children and adults for the past 7 years with her strongest genres being hip hop, jazz and contemporary. She currently still trains several times a week and when she is not teaching dance or in the gym, Rachelle is busy being a mother to her daughter Holly.

Qualifications include:
– Cert IV in dance
– Cert III & IV in personal training
– Bachelor of health science in nutritional medicine

Dance Instructor

Born in Durban, South Africa in 1990. Shannon Jeanes moved to Australia in 2001 where she was accepted into The Queensland Dance School of Excellence and completed her Advanced 2 Cecchetti ballet exam in 2006. In 2007 Shannon was chosen as one of four QDSE dancers to perform for the launch of Li Cunxin’s ‘Mao’s Last Dancer’.

Her passion for dance came from her mother, a qualified Cecchetti teacher who introduced her to dance at a young age. In her last year at QDSE she was runner up in the Gold section at the Cecchetti medal awards. In 2007 Shannon was accepted into The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where she trained under Nanette Hassall, Kim McCarthy, Justin Rutzou, Andries Weidmann and Lucette Aldous. In 2009 Shannon was chosen to work with Australian Ballet’s Timothy Harbour in the contemporary creation of ‘A Listening World’ and in 2010 was given the opportunity to perform with the West Australian Ballet Company in ‘Sleeping Beauty’.

Having a Cecchetti background has definitely helped Shannon become a strong, technical dancer enabling her to be a versatile performer.

In 2012 Shannon decided to travel overseas to gain more experience in the U.K and European dance world. In February she auditioned for Northern Island’s contemporary company ‘Maiden Voyage Dance’ and successfully became a member of the company.

Paige started dancing at the age of four and has spent many years performing and teaching before studying Theatre full time. She completed an Advanced Diploma of Musical Theatre at the Australian Dance Performance Institute where she was trained by many industry professionals. She was trained in genres such as Ballet, Contemporary, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. Whilst studying dance, she also took classes in acting and singing.

Since graduating, she has spent a large amount of time travelling and working overseas in places such as Canada and the United Sates. Her interests started to venture into human development and education. Paige is passionate about creating a healthy, sustainable lifestyle for the physical body and for positive emotional and mental health.

This led her to opportunities to pursue her strengths in a position as an early learning teacher. She currently works as a children’s presenter. She strongly believes that each child is unique and has something special to bring into the world. Her goal is to provide a safe environment that supports physical, emotional and mental growth, creative flair and individuality to help students reach their full potential and find their identity. She plans to continue her studies as a performer and in play-based learning to become a children’s television presenter.

rimaRima Fujisaki

Dance Instructor

Rima has been dancing for almost 10 years and spent the first 4 years at Joy Jeanes School of Dance. During this time, she completed Annual Cecchetti Ballet Exams up to Intermediate level .

In high school, she completed 4 years of Dance as an Academic subject and attained a Certificate II in Dance. She trained in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip hop and Musical Theatre as well as using her acrobatics skills. Rima has experience and knowledge in performance, choreography as well as creation of short dance films. She won the Excellence in Dance Award while at High School.

While visiting Japan in 2020, Rima was a short-term volunteer teaching dance to students from grade 1 to 8 at Suomi Primary/Secondary School and created a solo ballet piece for an aspiring student just before returning to Australia.

Rima is currently a full-time student studying Bachelor of Biomedical Science, while pursuing her passion for all genre of dance and choreography. She looks forward to coming back into the studio and sharing her knowledge with
the students.

akieAkie Hagiwara’

Dance Instructor

Born in Japan, Akie started classical ballet at the age of 3 and spent  over 15 years performing with various Japanese ballet companies.

In the year 2000, Akie completed an Associate Degree in Faculty of Home Economics and Bachelor of Nutrition Science. She had also attained a license as a Junior High school teacher at this time and then moved to Australia in 2001.

While raising three children, Akie started ballet again in 2012 joining the studio and taking outside lessons as well . She studied Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz. Her hard work saw her complete exams up to and including Cecchetti intermediate.

Having a strong passion for working with children, Akie has obtained a Certificate lll in Children’s Services and is currently working as a teacher at the Japanese Language and Culture School. She looks forward to teaching Junior Ballet at the studio while continuing her Cecchetti training.

Cassie started dancing at age 4 with Suzanne Whiteman at Alstonville Dance Studio – Northern Rivers, NSW where she attended classes in all styles and annual Examinations with the R.A.D., C.D.A., C.S.T.D. and the B.A.L.

She launched into teaching full time at age 18 and was accepted into a local dance company called ‘Imprint’ which represented Australia in the U.S.A. for ‘Dance Excellence’. She has choreographed work for eisteddfods, concerts and for NSW schools for – Dance Festivals and Rock Eisteddfods including a NSW North Coast school receiving over $5,000 in prize money.

Cassie holds a Advanced Jazz Teachers Certificate with the C.D.A – (Contemporary Dance Australasia). In 2010 she moved to QLD to teach Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Ballet & Musical Theatre.

Dion has been dancing for over 10 years with Hip Hop being his main style.

Dion and His Crew “Dream Crew” along with his students from “Dream Academy” have made the top ranks of many competitions throughout Queensland, as well as performing for local events and assisting local artist with projects.

Dion’s training was mostly self-taught but he has also acquired a Certificate IV in dance and has years of knowledge and experience for his students.

Dion’s accomplishments include having students place in Solo Divisions of Get The Beat, Future Starts, Starbound as well as Australian All Star Cheer and Dance Competitions (AASCF).

Within one year of working with Dion, these dancers were able to climb to the top ranks, one of which being the Cheer and Dance Academy who claimed 3rd in Australia at AASCF nationals in their first year.

JasmineJasmine Mansfield-French

Jasmin started dancing at the age of 4, beginning in Musical theatre, Jazz and Tap, then moved onto training all styles of dance and acrobatics.

At the age of 13 Jasmin was working as an assistant dance teacher for Acrobatics and Junior classes.

From the age of 15 Jasmin was teaching her own classes in Gymnastics, Acrobatics, Tumbling, Parkour and Trampoline. At 16 she began to teach Jazz and Musical Theatre along with other styles of dance at local studios in the Tweed and Gold coast area. Jasmin takes regular classes with industry professionals to keep her choreography new and fresh.

Jasmin holds an Intermediate Qualification in Gymnastics, Tumbling, Parkour and Trampoline alongside an Acrobatic Arts intermediate qualification. In 2018 Jasmin began a 2 years cert III in dance teaching at Dance Force completing at the end of 2019. She now teaches all styles of dance specialising in Acrobatics, Contemporary, Musical theatre and Jazz at several studios on the coast.
